As the summer draws to a close how do you fancy reaching for a handmade light-weight jacket to ward off that morning chill or evening breeze?
Making your own outerware is a fabulous adventure into construction, fastenings, hardware and finishing. If you have a little bit of dressmaking under your belt and you fancy a new challenge then this is the course for you.
Working with the versatile Tilly and the Buttons 'Eden' Jacket pattern you will peice together your own jacket, you can opt to line your jacket or beautifully finish inner seams for a really lightweight garment. Opt for zip, snaps, buttons or a mixture of fastenings and details to make your jacket truely unique.
What to bring:
Outer fabric (Medium to heavy weight woven fabrics e.g. Denim, wool mix, wool, canvass, heavyweight linen).
3.3m (3yd) x 150cm (60in) wide OR 4.3m (4¾yd) x 115cm (45in) wide
Lining fabric (Cotton prints, Cotton mixes, polyester lining, buttons, snaps or zip)
2m (2¼yd) x 150cm (60in) OR 2.7m (3yd) x 115cm (45in) wide
Matching thread 1.4m (1yd) interfacing (similar weight to your fabric)
10 x 15mm (in) visible or hidden press-on or sew-on snaps, or 3 x ready-made toggle fastenings or toggle buttons and cord
Optional: Open-end zip 50-53cm (20-21in) for jacket version,
